Self-heal is sprouting at my feet, mint is reaching past my ankles, yarrow is blooming and near my waist, the tuberose bulbs have awaken, and the elderflowers are beginning to turn into berries. Summer approaches🌞
Next writing assignment: Mexican Honeysuckle (Justicia spicigera), commonly known as Muicle.
Experienced a most dreamy pop-up by @elcreativo.la at @cuarto.central honoring the legacy that is mothering with @zarazuafoto behind the camera💫. I’m immensely grateful for the creatives reimagining traditional narratives.
This cannababy is already forming their flowers! Self-seeded in early March and so far watered solely by the rain.
Front garden native wildflower situation. The CA poppies are most abundant on the south side of this east facing garden. I think it’s important for me to note that this garden is watered only by the rain.🌞💚
In the sanctuary of a garden. When I lost both of my parents to the spirit world in my early 20s I found that I needed to find safe places for my grief to exist and evolve. And honestly, those places and people were far and few. It is in the garden that I feel safest and seen, a part of something bigger. Over the years this connection has grown and guided me gracefully towards joy & hope again. Because of this major life experience I will always be that garden gal attempting to inspire others to grow safe spaces and to be gentle with those that feel vulnerable when in community. Instead of focusing on growing plants for consumption I now focus on cultivating more healing spaces, which in turn creates a greater harvest abounding with abundance. Slowly I grow from an acorn into an oak. ❤️
